the thing that is too bad about this is that umpire was really good before this call. He has umped world series and has been known as one of the best, now he will be known as the Bill Buckner of umpiring.
With 2 outs in the 9th inning Detroit Tiger pitcher Armando Galarraga got a ground ball to the first baseman, ran to first base to cover, got the ball from the first basemen, caught it perfectly, had the foot on the bag with the runner still two steps behind, and the umpire Jim Joyce called safe. It was the worst call I have ever seen in my life of watching baseball. There was no bobble with the ball, the ball was there two steps ahead of the runner, nothing out of the ordinary, and the umpire said safe. Usually those close calls go to the pitcher when they are ONE OUT from a perfect game. I happened to go on Wikipedia on the Jim Joyce page and saved this before it was edited lol.
I've also added a picture when the pitcher has the ball and where the runner is when he's "safe."

Bring your green hat
Nice Bill Buckner reference lol. He feels so bad about it too. If Bud Selig wasn't such a dick he could put a happy ending on the whole situation, but sources said he won't.
haha thanks, I don't care so much about what sources say about what Bud Selig will do as much as I care about how much of a do nothing person he is. Baseball needs him to be be done with baseball
Bring your green hat
I'd have been so pissed if I was at that game.
Once again this begs the question of why the MLB doesn't allow umpires to use instant replays to challenge calls.
